I wanted to share some updates with you concerning good things that are happening in Ghana with Bishop John Andoh and his Freedom House Foundation. As a reminder, Freedom House Foundation is a home for 65 orphans and it is also a skills training center for widows. Through your donations, we have been able to provide support to John and his ministry to help them with their needs. Thanks to all of you who have supported financially and through prayer!
In the last update that I shared, the water project was nearly completed. I’m happy to say that it is completely finished now! There is a new bore-well with an electric pump that constantly keeps the massive water storage tank filled. There is also a pump that brings the water into the orphanage so that now the children have running water, showers, and flushing toilets. Additionally, the septic system has been completed which was necessary for the toilets. This is a huge blessing to the children, the widows, and the workers at the orphanage! Thank You, Father, in the name of Jesus for blessing these children of Yours!
John was also able to raise support to get mattresses for the newly made beds for the children. Each child now has a nice thick foam mattress and a new bunk bed to sleep on. Very nice!
In addition to consideration for current needs, John also is looking out for the future. His objective is to have the orphanage be as self-sufficient as possible by having various means of generating food and income. Already they are raising pigs, chickens, and goats. They also have various crops that they grow for food. These efforts are currently fulfilling some of the food needs, plus providing some degree of income to support other needs of the foundation. To further increase income, John has launched a coconut tree farming program. His objective is to plant 1500 coconut trees which mature over the course of three years, at which time they will produce a very good income for the orphanage. So far we have been able to provide support for 700 trees and they were just planted over the past few days. His hope is to raise support for the remaining 800 trees while it is still the rainy season (until August).
Father, we would like to thank you once again for all the blessings that have been coming forth for the orphans and widows: new house, running water, sewer, animals, crops, new beds & mattresses, coconut trees, and especially loving people to care for them! Thank You, in the name of Jesus!
If you are interested in providing support, John has these priorities at hand right now:
- Plant another 800 coconut trees in the next month or so
- Get a new engine and other repairs to a truck that was donated to the orphanage
- Any amount of regular monthly support would help with needs
Thank you and God bless you!
Bobby
