I grew up as a very shy and introverted child who found it very difficult to socialize and make friends. At the age of 14, I discovered that alcohol was the remedy I always longed for, and this quickly developed into a necessary habit to maintain a social life. Alcohol was the starting point of an extremely sinful lifestyle that escalated into addiction to drugs, sex, lying, etc.

During the course of addiction, I experienced many problems in life: failing health, depression, suicidal thinking, legal issues, financial issues, near-death overdoses, victim of violence & crimes, despair & loneliness, among other problems. I tried to stop using, but it was impossible despite the multitude of consequences, near-death experiences, and 5 trips to rehab.

I tried once again to get sober in May of 2011. I remembered what the people in Alcoholics Anonymous told me: “If you find God, He will set you free from addiction.” I also remembered that those who said this had been sober for more than 20 years and they were actually happy people who could enjoy life without drugs or alcohol, so I believed them.

I started reading the bible, going to church, going to AA, and working the 12 steps of AA which draw you near to God. On June 2, 2011, I said a little prayer asking God, in the name of Jesus, to take away my addictions & obsessions. I was instantly healed and set free from addiction, and I’ve never drank or done drugs since then!

Thank you, Daddy, in the name of Jesus! Amen!

My first experience with God was that He was a healer – even a healer of people who were wrapped up in sin. I loved God for saving me, so immediately began seeking to learn from veteran Christians. I was in a bible study that was teaching wrong doctrine – that God was the source of all the problems in our lives – that everything that happened to us was God’s will.

They taught that God would afflict someone with cancer to “refine them through the fire,” or to punish them, or to teach them something. My love for God was diminishing the longer I was under this teaching. About 1 year into this, someone in my life had a stroke and nearly died.

I prayed for her for a full year with zero results. I was praying and asking God, “Why isn’t she being healed? I was a terrible sinner and You healed me instantly. Why not her?” Immediately, God sent me a teacher named Andrew Wommack who had a teaching series entitled “God Wants You Well.” I was in awe listening to his teaching which was exactly opposite of what I was being taught in bible study.

I learned important truths such as these:

• Satan is the source of sickness and death
• God’s will is for all people to be healed
• Jesus took stripes on His back which paid for our healing
• God has given us His authority & power to heal the sick
• We must pray by commanding sickness to leave and healing to be done

   

After listening to this 4-hour teaching, I then took an 8-hour class on healing by Barry Bennett at Charis Bible College (Andrew Wommack’s bible college). I then watched 20 healing testimonies which confirmed all the things I had been taught. I then prayed for this lady one time, in faith, in authority, commanding Satan, sickness, and depression to leave in the name of Jesus, and she was instantly healed!!

Oh my God!!

Who ever knew such a thing was possible? Since this time, I have taken hundreds of hours of teaching on God’s goodwill, faith, authority, healing, and identity in Christ from Andrew Wommack, Curry Blake (John G. Lake Ministries), Kenneth Hagin, among others.

The results in my life from learning and believing the true gospel message include:

• I have not been to a doctor in 6+ years since I learned that Jesus paid for my healing
• I have cast out demons in the name of Jesus
• I have healed 100’s of people in the name of Jesus
• I have raised a bee, a bird, and a dead baby in the womb from the dead in the name of Jesus
• I am very fruitful in praying in faith & authority to help people with need
• I walk in personal victory having a blessed life which is the full salvation of Jesus

As a result of the victory that I’ve experienced since learning the truth, I now delight in teaching others the things that are working well in my life so that they can begin walking in full salvation benefits, and begin doing the works of Jesus, such as healing the sick and praying in faith & authority to address the needs of the people around them.
